Killzone hype-a-hyper

Harrison just doesn’t know when to let go, eh? Δίνοντας συνέντευξη στο Official Playstation Magazine, δήλωσε περί του Killzone 2:

“With Killzone, the expectation internally and externally is very high – and I won’t show it until it’s going to exceed people’s expectations. It will be next year before we show it again, but it’s coming along very well. The team are working very hard, they know exactly what they have to do and there’s no doubt they will achieve it, but there’s nothing to be served by something that doesn’t satisfy my goals for the project. I can tell you, though, that some elements already exceed the trailer.

Η έμφαση δικιά μου. Άσε μας ρε Phil. To trailer του Killzone 2, originally billed και καλά real-time footage — και αργότερα ως ‘target-render’, δηλαδή τι ελπίζανε στη Sony (και καλά) να μπορεί να κάνει το PS3, χωρίς φυσικά να το τρέχουν real time — είναι μάλλον η μεγαλύτερη απάτη που είδαμε σ’ αυτή τη γενιά.

Το *γκούχου-γκούχου*-some-elements-*γκούχου-γκούχου* already exceed the trailer! (σαν τι; gameplay; σωστά, το trailer δε μπορούσες να το παίξεις!) rightfully κερδίζει το tag του sony being pathetic.

Αναμένω τη μέρα που θα χρειαστεί να βγάλω tag Microsoft being pathetic ή Nintendo being pathetic. Χμμ, για την πρώτη βέβαια, για το Games Division. Μέχρι στιγμής πάντως το σκορ είναι 19-0-0. Και εις ανώτερα.

Μια και κάνω Sony-bashing, ας λινκάρω και στην ανάλυση του Inner Bits περί PlayStation Network. Έρχεται σε τρία μέρη. Το conclusion;

As to the notion that — unlike Xbox Live with its subscription-based charges — the service is free, the reality is that you get what you pay for. The multiplayer experience on the PS3 will pale in comparison to Xbox Live. The only games that will do well are the ones using Xfire, or those where the developer has invested a lot of their time creating a fun multiplayer experience.

It seems that Sony hasn’t actually learned their lesson from their days supporting developers on the PS2. Perhaps they will only realize their mistake once they have been knocked off their perch at the top. Let’s hope it’s not too late by then.

    I ‘d love to know what Phil’s smoking, for curiosity’s sake.

    Sony fucked up big time, although, they are not to be taken lightly.
    Microsoft is going to dominate the consoles world, whether Sony wants it, or not — perhaps not this generation ( although I ‘d place my bets on them over Sony, even now), but definitely the next.

    Their Live! system is eons away from Sony and Sony, if it will ever catch up, will not be this generation – which means the online war is lost and Sony is the loser with the ‘I AM A BIG FUCKING LOSER’ banner by its side.

    I don’t quite get what makes the PS3 ‘better’ than the 360. Carmack says nothing and I ‘d go with him ( he is THE man ). So the PS3 has less memory yet higher speed access to that memory, whereas the 360 has more memory, smaller HD, and doesn’t do 1080p (but it does 1080i, now) – at least its not expected to do it for the majority of the titles but who gives a rat’s ass about it, anyway ?

    Oh well :) I am buying a 360 tomorrow:)
